  • WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN ALANO AND AA?

    • The Alano is a non-profit, membership-based organization providing a safe, accepting place for 12-step meetings

    • The Alano HOSTS AA and other 12-step meetings and events

    • Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of people whose only desire is to stop drinking and help others to stop drinking.

    • The 12 traditions of AA state that AA not be "affiliated with any group or outside enterprise." This includes an alano.

    • The Alano and the meetings it hosts are two separate entities

  • WHAT RESPONSIBILITIES DOES MEMBERSHIP INCLUDE?

    • Active participation in a program of recovery

    • Electing board members to service on behalf of the membership

    • Treating the grounds and those who enter with dignity and respect

    • Volunteering time, talents, and resources to maintain and grow our society

  • WHY SHOULD I PLEDGE

    • The Robbinsdale Alano was established in 1952.

    • It is the second oldest Alano in the state of Minnesota

    • It is vital the doors of this building be open for the next alcoholics and their families, just like it was when we arrived.

    • We want Robbinsdale Alano to be financially stable.

    • Part of our 12-Step program is to get involved, as half measures avail us nothing.
